THE IRONY OF LOVE

Proper marriage could be defined as a union between two people, that is a man and a woman. In the scripture, it is stipulated that both will leave their family and make a union whereby they are no longer two but one. 

It is indisputable that the view of marriage in our contemporary world has drastically changed. Earlier, love was the key to any kind of marriage but unfortunately, nowadays others factors such as education and income have changed the whole idea. A lady from a rich family is eagerly looking and waiting for a man from a rich family and vice versa. This implies that in one way or another, marriage has lost its meaning. A number of cases concerning broken marriages have been recorded in public domain. In most cases, in marriages that were money based, when one partner loses a job is when breakups happen. There is a need to go back to the roots. Marriage is not based on education or income. 

Experience reveals that in most cases nowadays, men want to marry educated ladies. The challenge comes into play when the educated lady or man cannot show commitment. It appears awkward when in a family everyone is doing his/her own business. Nevertheless, children who are born in such families find it problematic to adopt some values such as humility, honesty, and self-control. In families that are considered to be well of, in, most cases there have been some cases of unfaithfulness among the partners. The temptation comes where the individuals are busy investing and they fail to fulfill each other's conjugal rights. The easier way, therefore, is to look for an outsider who will act as a consoler. This issue of unfaithfulness has become a common phenomenon in our contemporary cosmos. What is solution to it? 

The family problems could be solved by giving sex education a priority in our learning institutions. Again, it would be of necessity for different countries to work hand in hand with religious leaders. In this case, we are referring to theologians and more especially those who are professional and experienced in family formation matters. This action could reduce the number of single mothers or even unnecessary killings that have their roots in the family. In some continents like Africa and Asia, it could lead to the reduction of street children.
